“Wouldn’t it be awesome if…”
We start a lot of conversations this way. We’re the Krafts. Lynnette is our author (and torchbearer), and incidentally also our actual mom. Jared and Abigail are composer and illustrator, respectively, and brother and sister. New Wrinkle Publishing is our brainchild. Sometime around 2013, during the writing of Lynnette’s first novel, we had a fateful conversation that (we can’t guarantee, but definitely probably) started with “Wouldn’t it be awesome if books had soundtracks?”
Jared and Lynnette worked together for several months, figuring out what a book soundtrack would sound like, and how it should be experienced alongside the accompanying novel. The result was Ingrid, a young adult light fantasy novel which, when it was finished, was just asking for one more thing: illustrations. Abigail was thrilled to complete the circle.
Ingrid led the way, not only to an exciting new way to experience a novel, but to an inspiring new dream in our own hearts.
As we merged our art forms together to create something new, we began to uncover a common thread in our creative visions—a desire to share the power of individual purpose with the youth of the world. We hope that those who take the time to enjoy our books and soundtracks will come away with new enthusiasm to value their own purpose and potential and live their life with relish. Imitation is boring. And as Jared and Abigail grew up hearing their mom say all the time, “You can only be yourself well.”
